Who gets approved?

We verify that an act is a genuine, active live band. We do not judge whether someone's musical taste is “good enough.”

Required for approval

A band must demonstrate that it exists as a functioning live act.

At least 2 current active performing members
One private 2–5 minute continuous live-performance video
Current band name, members, base city and primary genre
Band photo showing the current act
Evidence of at least one real venue, event, church, festival or booked performance
At least one established external presence: website, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube or similar
Booking contact and agreement that the listed band is the act that will perform
Annual re-verification to keep the Verified Live Band badge

Not accepted

These submissions do not meet the site's purpose even if the music itself may be creative.

Bedroom-only recording projects with no active live band
One-off song uploads without a performing group
Anonymous music channels or faceless upload accounts
AI-generated artist/band profiles presented as real performers
Karaoke-only accounts
Inactive or dissolved bands
Solo performers unless a separate category is intentionally added later
DJs unless a separate verified-DJ category is intentionally added later

We are building TheLocalBandList.com into a strong North Carolina directory of verified local live bands before introducing paid plans.

For the launch period, approved North Carolina live bands pay $0. The free period lasts for at least the first 3 months AND until The Local Band List reaches at least 100 verified NC live acts — whichever takes longer.

No credit card is required to join. We will not automatically start billing founding bands. Before any paid plan begins, bands will receive advance notice and can choose whether to continue.

Founding profile media limits
Up to 3 public performance clips, each 30–90 seconds and no larger than 150 MB, plus 5 still photos, each no larger than 5 MB. The private 2–5 minute verification video is separate and does not count toward these limits.
